Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) have been around for decades, but only in recent years have they become a viable, effective solution for supply chains.

Over the last 10-15 years there have been significant changes in the capabilities of AGV offerings. A mobile piece of equipment can be automated today, and can be operated in a hybrid mode (automated/manned) or a fully autonomous mode. The enhanced flexibility and agility of AGVs has to do with the increased capabilities of vision systems, and AI’s ability to understand the needs of the systems.
