Sedlak company founder Joseph A. Sedlak was an industry pioneer. After graduating from John Carroll University with a major in philosophy and a minor in industrial engineering, he worked first for Hodel Chain and later for Picker X-ray, designing the company’s material handling systems. He also taught engineering courses at John Carroll University, where he met Maurice Saltzman, the CEO of Bobbie Brooks.
Saltzman hired Joe to be his distribution center manager, and Joe designed a new, state-of-the-art facility. It was such the envy of the industry that Saltzman frequently hosted tours and Joe would receive calls from companies on evenings and weekends asking, “Can you help us?” And he did.
In 1958, Joe decided to hang his shingle. A busy family man with a strong faith, he based his company on three principles: family, faith and profession.
